parents & Carers... moving on

You can involve your parents or carers in your carer as much or as little as you want.

Do my parents or carers have to be informed about my care?

As you move into adult services you can decide whether you would like your parents or carers to be informed about your care and treatment. You have a right to your personal information, such as diagnosis and treatment, being kept confidential, even if you are not 18 yet.

This means that, except in exceptional circumstances, we will not give information about our treatment and care to your parents and carers without your permission.

If your care team think your parents or carers need to know certain things to help you they should ask your permission to tell them about these things.
