Award Categories

If you are a patient, carer or visitor you can nominate a member of staff or a team for a Papworth Life Staff Achievement Award in the following categories: '1. Caring for Patients', '5. Volunteer of the Year'. These will be the most relevant awards to your experience at Papworth Hospital. Please note: the other award categories relate to internal staff programmes. Each category features our commitment to the Equality and Diversity agenda and to Valuing Health and Wellbeing.

If you are a staff member you can nominate individual colleagues or teams for any of the categories (1-7).

1. Leading with Care Award

Nominate an individual and/or a team who has provided the highest quality of clinical care and led by example by seeking to go beyond their job description to treat people with exemplary respect, dignity, compassion and empathy and as a result has improved the patient experience.

2. Instilling Innovation Award

Nominate an individual and/or a team who has shown creativity and ingenuity to develop or establish health and patient care, or a breakthrough in clinical practice, education or research and development; whose 'innovative' idea has been successfully implemented and resulted in significant service improvements.

Nominate an individual and/or a team who has demonstrated an outstanding ability to ensure their colleague or team feels valued: to feel listened to, to have clarity on their role in the organisation, to invest in their education and learning opportunities, to develop their skills and capabilities to provide the highest quality of care for our patients.

Nominate an individual and/or a team who has excelled in the service they provide to patients and/or colleagues.

5. Volunteer of the Year Award

Nominate a volunteer who has made an exceptionally significant contribution to the Trust's services.

6. Working in Partnership Award

New for 2015: This award seeks to recognise the valuable work our staff undertake in partnership with colleagues from either NHS organisations such as neighbouring hospitals and commissioners, or other local, regional, national and international health, care, education and research organisations and service providers to the hospital. Please note: The award will only be given to the Papworth Hospital member of staff or team.

Nominations must demonstrate how an individual or team employed by Papworth Hospital worked with another organisation to achieve one or more of the following:

7. Lifetime Achievement Award

Nominate an individual who has consistently, throughout their career in the NHS, demonstrated a high quality of performance and significant contribution to the organisation and whose work and attitude serves to enhance the Trust's reputation. Nominations should demonstrate how they have contributed to the Trust's success and development for over 15 years of service.

8. Chairman's Award for Outstanding Achievement

This Award is chosen at the discretion of the Chairman once the PPI Committee agrees the winners of categories 1 to 7.

The Award is open to an individual and/or a team from anywhere across the Trust who demonstrates the Trust's values by displaying effort and dedication over and above the normal call of duty, providing outstanding leadership and a consistently high quality service to patients/service users and/or colleagues.
