Award Categories
If you are a patient, carer or visitor you can nominate a member of staff or a team for a Papworth People Staff Achievement Award in the following categories: '1. Caring for Patients', '5. Volunteer of the Year' and '7. Chairman's Award for Outstanding Achievement'. These will be the most relevant awards to your experience at Papworth Hospital. Please note: the other award categories relate to internal staff programmes. Each category features our commitment to the Equality and Diversity agenda and to Valuing Health and Wellbeing.
If you are a staff member you can nominate individual colleagues or teams for any of the categories (1-7).
1. Caring for Patients Award
Nominate an individual and/or a team who has provided the highest quality of clinical care and has sought to go beyond their job description to treat people with exemplary respect, dignity, compassion and empathy and as a result has improved the patient experience.
Nominations must demonstrate how individual or team did one or more of the following:
- Improved patient experience
- Provided the highest quality of personal care
- Treated patients with outstanding levels of compassion, dignity and respect
- Improved the effectiveness of care
- Achieved high-quality clinical outcome and quality outcome measurements from the patient perspective
- Demonstrated they value the health and wellbeing of colleagues and patients at Papworth Hospital through the implementation of working practices which help others to achieve a healthy work/life balance
- Demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Equality and Diversity by delivering better outcomes for patients and better working environments for staff, which are personal, fair and diverse
This year you can nominate an individual by their staff group:
- 1a. Doctor
- 1b. Nurse
- 1c. Healthcare Assistant
- 1d. Allied Health Professional
- 1e. Other
2. Achieving Excellence Award
Nominate an individual and/or a team who has excelled in the service they provide to patients and/or colleagues.
Nominations must demonstrate how individual or team did one or more of the following:
- Achieved results in the service to patients and/or colleagues which go beyond the expectations of their role
- Demonstrated creative and original thinking in the development of the service they provide
- Achieved high-quality clinical or non-clinical outcomes which provide significant benefit to the Trust in improving its working practices
- Contributed positively to enhancing the Trust’s reputation
- Demonstrated they value the health and wellbeing of colleagues and patients at Papworth Hospital through the implementation of working practices which help others to achieve a healthy work/life balance
- Demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Equality and Diversity by delivering better outcomes for patients and better working environments for staff, which are personal, fair and diverse
3. Working Differently Award
Nominate an individual and/or a team whose idea to ‘work differently’ has been successfully implemented and resulted in significant service improvements, including 'green', sustainable or revised working practices in the Trust.
Nominations should demonstrate one or more of the following:
- Significant innovative thinking which has resulted in actual benefit to the Trust by improving patient experience
- Significant innovative thinking which has resulted in actual benefit to the Trust by working more effectively resulting in greater efficiencies and savings in:
- money
- resources
- time
- Demonstrated they value the health and wellbeing of colleagues and patients at Papworth Hospital through the implementation of working practices which help others to achieve a healthy work/life balance
- Demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Equality and Diversity by delivering better outcomes for patients and better working environments for staff, which are personal, fair and diverse
4. Innovation Award
Nominate an individual and/or a team who has shown creativity and ingenuity to develop or establish health and patient care, service improvement or a breakthrough in clinical practice or research and development
Nominations should demonstrate one or more of the following:
- Significant innovation in achieving high quality outcomes through the introduction of changes in working arrangements and practices
- New developments arising from local research, or local application of innovative practice
- The translation of new thinking and research into better patient outcomes
- Pushing the boundaries of research, technology and clinical practice
- The implementation of a new service or product which has led to significant results in a direct improvement of patient experience and/or the experience of colleagues
- Developing the talent of colleagues through learning and education
- Demonstrated they value the health and wellbeing of colleagues and patients at Papworth Hospital through the implementation of working practices which help others to achieve a healthy work/life balance
- Demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Equality and Diversity by delivering better outcomes for patients and better working environments for staff, which are personal, fair and diverse
5. Volunteer of the Year Award
Nominate a volunteer who has made an exceptionally significant contribution to the Trust's services.
- Shown dedicated service to patients, carers and visitors, staff
- Acted with courtesy, compassion, excellent communication skills
- Had a direct or indirect positive impact on the experience of our patients and colleagues
6. Lifetime Achievement Award
Nominate an individual who has consistently, throughout their career in the NHS, demonstrated a high quality of performance and significant contribution to the organisation and whose work and attitude serves to enhance the Trust’s reputation.
Nominations should demonstrate one or more of the following:
- Contributed to the Trust’s success and development for over 15 years of service
- Demonstrated outstanding achievements through consistent effort and dedication in their work
- Improved the performance of their department and/or another department as a result of their talent and dedication
- Delivered service with courtesy, compassion, excellent communication skills
- Had a direct positive impact on the experience of our patients and colleagues
- Supported or created significant improvements in clinical or non clinical excellence throughout their career
- Championed significant service improvement throughout their career
- Demonstrated they value the health and wellbeing of colleagues and patients at Papworth Hospital through the implementation of working practices which help others to achieve a healthy work/life balance
- Demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Equality and Diversity by delivering better outcomes for patients and better working environments for staff, which are personal, fair and diverse
7. Chairman's Award for Outstanding Achievement
Nominate an individual and/or a team from anywhere across the Trust who demonstrates the Trust's values by displaying effort and dedication over and above the normal call of duty, providing outstanding leadership and a consistently high quality service to patients/service users and/or colleagues.
Nominations should demonstrate one or more of the following:
- Demonstrated outstanding achievements through consistent effort and dedication in their work/embracing exemplary teamwork
- Improved the performance of their department and/or another department as a result of their talent and dedication/demonstrated outstanding achievements through improved performance as a result of team working
- Demonstrated outstanding leadership
- Delivered service with courtesy, compassion, excellent communication skills
- Had a direct or indirect positive impact on the experience of our patients and colleagues
- Supported service improvement
- Demonstrated they value the health and wellbeing of colleagues and patients at Papworth Hospital through the implementation of working practices which help others to achieve a healthy work/life balance
- Demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Equality and Diversity by delivering better outcomes for patients and better working environments for staff, which are personal, fair and diverse
