A CYSTIC fibrosis sufferer from Colchester has won a bronze medal at the British Transplant Games in Birmingham. Karen Mills competed in five events for the Royal Papworth Hospital Team, who competed against other transplant hospitals in the UK.

Steven Tsui and Stephen Large work at Cambridgeshire's Royal Papworth Hospital and are set to be dubbed 'Pioneering Heroes' at the NHS Heroes awards. The pair made it possible to restart a beating heart allowing a new type of transplant. Their work means more people on the donor register can receive a heart, saving more lives.

A "life-changing" procedure to help treat patients with a rare form of lung disease, has been introduced at Papworth hospital in Cambridge.The procedure, called Balloon pulmonary angioplasty, involves tiny balloons being used to inflate and compress blockages in the blood vessels of patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH).

Melissa is a clinical trials coordinator at Papworth Hospital and has a target of £3,100 she must reach before the event in November.
