WORLD HEART DAY Sponsored Walk for Papworth Hospital

Almost 200 people came along on Sunday 30 September to take part in Papworth Hospital’s third World Heart Day Sponsored Walk held in the stunning grounds of Wimpole Hall.

Helen Daniel, Acting Fundraising Manager at Papworth Hospital said “It was a beautiful, clear day and there were lots of happy faces at the end of the walk, which was wonderful to see. Thank you to everyone who took part and made this such a friendly and hugely enjoyable event, and thanks also to those who generously sponsored the walkers.”

Sponsor money is still coming in but it is hoped to raise in excess of £20,000 which this year will purchase balloon pumps for the Hospital’s Cardiac Unit. Balloon pumps are used as a temporary support for the heart in some patients undergoing cardiac interventions, until heart function improves. The funds which were raised by former cardiac rehabilitation patients will be used to enhance services in that area.
