Schoolchildren learn how to look after their heart and lungs at Papworth Hospital
More than eighty children from three local primary schools came to Papworth Hospital on Thursday 12 July, to learn how to look after their heart and lungs, from several of the leading hospital’s staff.
Pupils from year 6 at Elsworth School, Pendragon School from Papworth Everard and Thorndown from St Ives, spent the morning at Papworth Hospital learning how their heart works from Consultant Cardiologist, Dr Sarah Clarke and how their lungs work from Consultant Physician, Dr Rob Buttery. The children then took part in some more hands-on events like, learning resuscitation skills, seeing moving images of the heart via an ECHO machine, what to eat to keep your heart and lungs healthy and took part in exercises to test their lung function.
