Exercise Equipment for Patients with Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis patients at Papworth Hospital will benefit from the very generous donation of £20,000 presented to staff by Clinton and Eileen Dunmore in memory of their daughters Jodi and Lucinda, whose young lives were cruelly cut short by this devastating disease.
Lucinda died very suddenly in March 2007 and Jodi died 20 months later in November 2008. Earlier this year the family organised a memorial ball for family and friends at Sharnbrook Hotel to celebrate their lives.
Part of this amazing donation will be used for research into cystic fibrosis and the remainder will purchase exercise equipment, particularly fold-up motorised treadmills and Wii Fit machines for the use of cystic fibrosis patients at Papworth Hospital.
Holly Gilbert who was Jodi’s physiotherapist said “Jodi was always saying that we should have these fold-up treadmills at Papworth and that if she won the lottery she would buy them for us. Thanks to the generosity of the Dunmore family and the friends of Jodi and Lucinda, we will now have them.” Dr Charles Haworth, Cystic Fibrosis Consultant at Papworth added “We are simply overwhelmed by the kindness of Eileen and Clinton Dunmore in supporting the CF service at Papworth in such sad circumstances”.
Eileen Dunmore, the girls’ mother, said “They were here for a good time but not for a long time and because of their lust for life, so many people are doing amazing things in their memory to raise funds to help others with cystic fibrosis.”
