Pulmonary hypertension
Papworth Hospital is an internationally recognised centre for the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary vascular disorders, including idiopathic and associated to other conditions (eg connective tissue disease, congenital heart diseases, thromboembolism).
Patients are admitted for assessment, including invasive monitoring to establish the diagnosis, prognostic group and initiate appropriate management. The patients are established on state of the art therapy with a long-term follow up programme.
Patients with severe pulmonary hypertension may be assessed for the suitability of lung transplantation, when medical intervention has failed.
