Our facilities

Thoracic inpatients are accommodated in the following ward areas:

Chest Medical Unit
(Baron, Duchess and Princess Wards)
 31 beds
Cystic Fibrosis  10 beds
RSSC  30 beds in the ward, 6 in the sleep laboratory
Thoracic Day Case Unit  14 beds

Outpatient Department

Outpatient appointments for Thoracic Medicine take place in the Thoracic Outpatient Department and the Respiratory Support and Sleep Outpatient department.  Thoracic Outpatients is located on the ground floor of the Bernard Baron building and is  next to the respiratory physiology lab and CT scanner.. The Respiratory Support and Sleep outpatient department adjoins the RSSC ward.

Chest Radiology

We have access to an MRI scanner on site and PET scanning off site. In addition we undertake a wide range of specialist tests.

Respiratory Physiology Lab

The unit provides facilities for the most advanced diagnostic methods used in respiratory function measurement and is also available for research work. The laboratory has a training programme for physiologists run in association with Anglia Ruskin University.
